General Description

This article contains instructions for connecting to Purdue's VPN using the Cisco VPN client for Mac OS X.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Download the Cisco VPN client installer by clicking one of the links below:

Cisco VPN Client for Mac 10.4 and above

Cisco VPN Client for Mac 10.3 and earlier

 

Step 2: To mount the Cisco VPN client image, double-click the file you downloaded in Step 1.

Step 3: Double click on "Cisco VPN Client.mpkg".

 

 

Step 4: The installation process begins.

 

 

Step 5: Read the license agreement, then if you agree to the license, click the Continue button, and then click the Agree button.

Step 6: When the Standard Install on “Macintosh HD” screen appears, click the Install button (or Upgrade button if software is already installed) to run a basic installation, which requires administrator access. Enter in your credentials when prompted and click the Continue button.


Step 7: Find "VPNClient.app" in your Applications folder and double click on it to start the VPN client.

 

 

Step 8: Click on connect.

 

 

Step 9: Login using your career account alias/username/login and password; then, minimize the VPN client until you are ready to disconnect.

Troubleshooting

If you have problems connecting from off campus, check to see if another user on your Internet connection is currently connected to a VPN. It is only possible for one user per Internet connection to use a VPN at any given time.

The VPN client has been tested and approved for OS 10.5 Leopard installations.
